What started it all!

We accidentally stumbled upon this abandoned family cottage when it was listed for sale, threw in an offer, and started the journey of a lifetime. Little did we know at the time, but this cottage was the start of a new business and sparked more joy and ambition than we could have ever imagined. We gave the cottage a total re-haul, maximizing the space in imaginative ways, and transforming the landscape to make it a true cottage get-away - including a firepit, putting green, and massive front porch for stunning views of the lake.

what we did

LIVING ROOM

Perhaps the biggest part of the transformation is the loft. We knew we wanted to optimize our space and give the kids their own area to play and watch movies. So, we designed and built a custom loft space that worked perfectly with our vaulted ceilings. The stairs going up to loft also retract and include additional storage space. We added white-washed pine to the ceilings and built new beams to up the wow factor and gave the fireplace a facelift by white-washing the brick.

kitchen

We completely restructured the kitchen to make it far more functional and updated the design with white subway tile with black grout, white shaker cabinets, black hardware, black stainless appliances, and a sexy black sink. Butcher-block style countertops complete the look. Most importantly, we removed the window that opened up into the bedroom behind the kitchen... I mean that's one way to serve breakfast in bed but we weren't having it.

Bathroom

The original bathroom was terrifying. We got rid of it all and installed a new tub with gorgeous geometric tile, a new vanity and toilet. We painted the walls in Sherwin Williams 'Tempe Star' and applied a stunning peel-and-stick waterproof wallpaper to make a bold and fun accent wall.

bedrooms

The best decision we made for these bedrooms was to open up the ceiling and maximize the height of the rooms. This allows for each room to have a large bunk bed with a trundle to sleep 4 people. New windows, drywall, doors, flooring, and ductless-splits in each room give these spaces a brand new look and comfortable feel.

sunroom

The first impression of the cottage, and the room with the best view, we maximized the potential for the space by turning it into our main dining area and office. Pull-out drawers under the bench seating and a small closet allows for ample storage space and the desk doubles as a bar/buffet area when entertaining guests. The walls are painted in Sherwin Williams 'Westhighland White' and 'Serenely'.

exterior

We gave the entire exterior, top to bottom and front to back, a MAJOR overhaul including a new roof, windows, doors, siding, and driveway. A large custom-built front porch off the front, a putting green on the side, and a firepit out back allow for full outdoor use and entertainment around the entire cottage.
