The quaint of heart - Main level

When we purchased this property, it was the cheapest house listed in the Windsor market at the time. One step inside, and you would know why. But we saw the full potential this run-down house had to offer and couldn't wait to bring it back to life. We converted the single family home into a legal ADU to maximize rental potential and attract potential investors looking for a turnkey rental property.

what we did
KITCHEN 1
The original kitchen was in DESPERATE need of a full transformation. The ceilings were badly cracked, the floor was peeling, the window was broken and sealed up. We did a complete demo and installed vinyl flooring, new drywall and paint, new ceiling mount LED lights, a new window, appliances, cabinets and countertops, and double sink. We also opened up the entryway, installed a new exterior door off the back and made sure the waterlines were replaced for safer water.

Kitchen 2
We had a lot of fun with this upper unit kitchen! The L-shape design allowed for LOTS of counter space and cabinets. We installed white shaker cabinets, butcher-block countertops, new appliances, and a double sink. The exposed shelves, hexagon backsplash, and fun accent wall painted in Sherwin Williams 'Arugula' complete the look!

living room 1
The original living room was pure 70s badness. It had a giant brick fireplace surrounded with gold-vein mirrored walls, registers sealed with duct tape, a wonky ceiling fan, and heavy brown curtains. We couldn't wait to give the fireplace a facelift and make it the focal point of the room. We painted the brick and installed shiplap, both painted in Sherwin Williams Tricorn Black. We also built a custom mantel using stained pine. New vinyl floors, baseboards, windows and drywall painted in Sherwin Williams 'Repose Gray' gave the room a soft, neutral look to really make the fireplace stand out in all the right ways.

Bathroom 1
We originally wanted to keep the existing floor and wall tile, but our demo team missed the memo and we had to completely redesign the bathroom. The good news is it allowed us to make the bathroom larger and ultimately, more functional. We completely changed the layout but kept the 'dark and moody' motif, opting for a more modern, slightly industrial look with 12x24 concrete look tile, a new vanity with a faux concrete finish, and black mirror and vanity lights.

bathroom 2
We went for a softer, more feminine look for the second bathroom choosing a high gloss 12x24 marble tile, a wood look floor tile, white vanity, mirror and lighting, and walls painted in Sherwin Williams Repose Gray.

stairwell
We LOVED the existing stairwell but it had seen much better days. We knew we were in for it once we started stripping the paint and found 5 different layers of oil and latex paint. It was quite the challenge but we managed to strip and sand down the staircase, repaint it in Sherwin Williams 'Tricorn Black', and add a super fun wallpaper on the risers to give it a unique, eye-catching look.

basement
The previous basement was dark, dingy, and not very useable. We reframed and drywalled the whole space creating a large utility/laundry room, two bedrooms, and a small sitting area. Soft carpet, walls in Sherwin Williams Repose Gray, white trim, and new windows helped to open up the space and make it a comfortable, useable living space.

exterior
Similar to the stairwell, the exterior wood siding had layers upon layers of colourful paint and was even rotted in certain areas. We installed new vinyl siding, new windows, a second entranceway for the main level unit, added an additional parking spot in the back, and properly graded the yard to prevent flooding.
