The quaint of heart - Main level

You will not believe this transformation! We took an old, unfinished basement that felt damp, dingy, and well, somewhat scary and transformed it into a bright and inviting two-bedroom unit.
To convert this space, we waterproofed, levelled the floors, tore down the cinder block 'bathroom', framed, drywalled and spray-foamed. A large open kitchen, deep window sills, and LED lighting makes the space feel warm and spacious and our black, white and wood motif gives it a young and modern feel.

what we did
KITCHEN
We converted the laundry area into our kitchen so we could make use of existing plumbing. White shaker cabinets and oak veneer countertops from Ikea paired with oversized white subway tile and black grout give this kitchen a bright, airy, and modern look. Hard to imagine what it looked like before!

BEFORE

after
bathroom
We completely rebuilt the bathroom and installed a brand new tub/shower and toilet. We used the same white subway tile with black grout as the kitchen, but laid it stacked rather than brick. Our black hexagon floor tiles, along with black tub fixtures, faucet, accessories, and of course our accent wall in Sherwin Williams Iron Ore, gives this bathroom a timeless, high-end look with just the right amount of drama and fun.

BEFORE

after
living room
We painted the walls throughout the unit in Balboa Mist by Benjamin Moore and added white trim to give the space a bright and cozy feel. After levelling out all the floors, we installed a gorgeous glue-down vinyl and added a door for access to the en-suite laundry and utility room.

BEFORE
after
bedrooms
We built two spacious bedrooms, each with a large window and double-closet for optimal space and lighting.

BEFORE
after
scary cellar entrance
This old entrance to the cellar was straight-out of a horror movie. We fixed that real quick!
